FAQ
Short answers to the questions operators ask most about licensing, connectivity, Google, bypassing, overrides and bookings.
Do I need one license per PC?
Yes. A license is activated against a PC's Machine ID, and the standard license allows one activation. Each bay PC needs its own activation. If you run several bays, contact support@neutrocorp.com about licenses for all of them. See Licensing & activation.
What happens if the internet drops?
Licensing keeps working for 7 days: the lock screen runs on its last license token and renews it once the connection returns (see Licensing). In Reservation Mode the calendar poll (every 30 seconds) fails and the sync status shows an error, but the kiosk keeps working from the events it already synced, which cover the next 7 days. Bookings made or cancelled while offline are picked up when the connection returns.
Can I use my own Google Cloud project?
Yes. SimLock ships with its own Google app, so nothing is required. If your facility wants its own OAuth client, open Calendar → Advanced, fill in both Client ID and Client Secret, and click Connect Google Account. When both boxes are filled they override the built-in client; if only one is filled, the built-in client is used.
Does it work with GSPro, Uneekor, or other software?
Process Monitor mode works with any program: enter its process name under General → Monitored Process (without .exe) (default gspro) and the lock screen launches when that program starts. In Reservation Mode, Session App Launch can click the GSPro tile on the Uneekor Launcher or start GSPro.exe directly; for anything else choose Nothing — software is already running and let your own launcher handle it. See Launching the session app.
Can golfers bypass the lock screen?
While the lock screen runs it blocks the Windows key, Alt+Tab, Alt+F4, Alt+Esc and Ctrl+Esc. The installer's optional kiosk hardening also disables Task Manager, Lock Workstation, Change Password, fast user switching and logoff through Windows policy, and turns off sleep and display timeouts on AC power. The two ways through are the ones you configure: the Returning Golfer PIN and the Manager Override password. Keep both private and change the defaults.
What does Manager Override do?
The Manager Override button sits in the top-right corner of the lock screen. It asks for the admin password, exits the lock screen, relaxes kiosk hardening and marks the kiosk as in maintenance. The Monitor will not relaunch the lock screen while maintenance is active, and there is no time limit. To relock, right-click the tray icon and choose Launch Lock Screen or End Maintenance Mode, or click Lock Kiosk in the Admin header.
Can I run SimLock on more than one bay?
Install it on each bay PC and activate each one. On every kiosk set This Bay to that bay's calendar; tick the other bays under the cross-bay list so customer records sync across the facility. Only the This Bay calendar locks and unlocks that kiosk.
What happens with back-to-back bookings?
The lock screen checks the active booking every 2 seconds. When one booking ends and the next is already active: if the first customer tapped Start, the Session Ended screen shows for 5 seconds, the simulator process is closed, and the next customer's welcome screen appears. If the first customer never tapped Start, the welcome screen for the next booking appears straight away.
What happens when a booking is cancelled during play?
After the next successful sync the event is gone, and the lock screen treats that exactly like the end time passing: Session Ended screen, session app stopped, simulator closed. If the customer had not tapped Start, the kiosk simply returns to idle.
Why can a regular still be asked to watch the tutorial?
A customer is "new" when no record matches or the record has 0 visits, and Auto-play tutorial video for new customers in reservation mode is on. Names in booking titles that carry extra words (a location, a bay number) are the usual reason for a missed match; see Troubleshooting for the fix.
Is the tutorial streamed from YouTube?
No. The lock screen plays a local video file. Download Video from URL on the Video tab turns a YouTube link into C:\ProgramData\SimLock\Videos\tutorial.mp4. If no file exists, the video step is skipped.
Does the lock screen keep running during a session?
Yes. In Reservation Mode it hides itself when the customer starts, stays alive to end the session at the booked time, and keeps the system-key block active, so Alt+Tab and the Windows key stay disabled during play.
Where do I find the version?
In the Admin panel header, shown as Version X.Y.Z.
Where is my data stored?
Settings are in C:\ProgramData\SimLock\config.json. Customers, upcoming bookings and the activity log are in C:\ProgramData\SimLock\customers.db. Downloaded videos go to C:\ProgramData\SimLock\Videos.
